Affinity Consultant's Annual Reports
Since 2017, I’ve designed Affinity Consultants’ annual reports. Each year begins with a new visual theme that was then customized for each of the company’s 140+ clients with their data and information. The samples below show the reports I’ve created over the years. To protect client confidentiality, Some date has been blurred or removed.
2016-2017
This was the first annual report I designed for Affinity Consultants. The nautical theme gave the report its visual direction, and I focused on keeping the layouts clean and open while using color strategically throughout the publication. Looking back, I’m still happy with how it turned out. I especially like the flowing line art that ties the pages together and the colorful imagery that supports the nautical theme.
2017-2018
My second annual report came together much more smoothly than the first. Built around the theme “The Road Ahead,” the concept focused on the organization’s journey, where it had been and where it was headed. Around this time, I had become interested in creating continuous one-line illustrations as a personal creative exercise. After showing my boss some of my illustrations, I was allowed to add that style to the report, and created all the line-art for it. Those illustrations were a key part of the visual identity, and looking back, it’s still one of my favorite annual reports.
2018-2019
The 2018–2019 report centered around the theme "Powering Progress." My boss really liked the line art illustrations from the previous year's report and asked me to create more for this edition. I was happy to continue the style, keeping the design clean, clear, and easy to understand while using the illustrations to guide readers through the report.
2019-2020
For the 2019–2020 report, I wanted to move away from the line art approach and experiment with a cut-paper vector illustration style. The theme was "Going with the Flow," and given the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic, concepts of navigating rough waters and following an unpredictable course felt especially relevant. Building the layered river scenes in Illustrator took some trial and error, but I had fun with it and I was happy with how the final report came together.
2020-2021
Following the challenges of the pandemic, this annual report focused on the theme of “A Year of Resilience,” highlighting growth, adaptability, and progress through adversity. For this edition, I wanted to create a fresh visual direction while keeping the production process efficient. Rather than relying heavily on illustration, I focused on bold photography, color, and clean layouts to create a modern, engaging experience that could scale across more than 140 customized client reports.
This was also the first year the annual report transitioned from a traditional print format to a fully digital experience. The design approach shifted from page-based spreads to a scrolling format, creating a more fluid way for readers to engage with the content online. The final result balanced strong visual storytelling with a flexible system designed to support a large number of personalized reports while maintaining consistency across the entire collection.
